The Clubs C Team won the East Beds League Champions Cup, but the clubs county league side lost to Buntingford in the County League semi-final at Garston BC.
It was a similiar scenario in the Letchworth & District finals where Peter Roseblade lost the singles final but with Martin Roberts won the pairs final. The midweek team lost to Henlow 79-66 but beat Shephalbury 93-50. The final weekend match against Welwyn GC, , resulted in a 111-91 loss.

Peter Roseblade will represent the club at the Letchworth & District finals day next Saturday in Singles final, he will be joined in the Pairs final by Martin Roberts. Good luck Lads.
The club hosted a touring side from Gravesend on Monday for a match of 6 mixed rinks. Obviously the journey had taken its toll as Baldock won on all six rinks for a total score of 143 shots to 76, Baldock’s top rink being Brian Leadley, Malcolm Bartlett, Roy Bacon and Duncan Reeves. Later in the week the midweek team played two and lost two, against St Ippolytts by 64 shots to 58 and against Letchworth GC by 62 shots to 72.
Only one weekend match because of the club triples and that was away at Flitwick and resulted in a resounding victory by four rinks to one and a total score of 111 shots to 67. Baldock’s top rink was Derek Slaney, Graham Woods, Rose Castle and Dave Turner.
This weekend sees the final friendly match and the club finals.

Baldock Men Win the County North Division League
On Sunday morning the Baldock men played in the Hertfordshire County North Division League Final against local rivals Whitethorn Bowls Club. Play started at 10am on a brite sunny morning. Within the first five ends Baldock has a small overal lead with Brian Todd's rink leading by ten shots, however Mike Parsons ring were six shots down. Over the course of the next ten ends baldock incleased their lead, with Brian Todd's rink, twelve shots up and Mike Parsons rink taking the lead for the first time by one shot. Over the final six ends both the Baldock rinks won and lost ends with Brian Todd's rink finishing at 22-17, five shots up. This left Mike Parsons rink at 19 ends down 17-22, leaving the match drawn overall. With two ends to play Mike found his rink down by three shots possibly four on 20th end. He had two woods to play, with his first he managed to draw shot which won the end. The last end was also won by one shot. The final score was 41-39. Baldock Rink 1, Roger Davis, Steve Budge, Joe Morley, Brian Tood. Baldock Rink 2, Bill Baxter, Rob Demster, Michael Wintrip, Mike Parsons.
At the same time the East Beds League B team lost by 4 shots to Potton in the semi-final of the knockout cup. However, the C team have reached the final of the Champions Cup.
Having lost to Potton on Saturday morning the club returned on Sunday for a friendly match and extracted a measure of revenge beating Potton on 4 of the 5 triples with a total score of 99 shots to 75, Baldock’s top triple being Derek Slaney, Rose Varney and John Carter.
Earlier in the week the midweek team beat Three Horseshoes by 55 shots to 52 but had their other match against Riverain rained off.

ROSE IS COUNTY CHAMPION
In a week of successes for the club Rose Varney set the pace when she won the Hertfordshire Singles Championship for unbadged players at Welwyn Garden City. In the semi-final she won 21-9 and followed this up with an equally convincing win in the final.
Her success was followed by Baldock Junior Devon Cooper who won the North Herts Ladies Hedgehog singles final. Devon played Ann Waugh of Three Horseshoes Bowls Club, the winning score was 21-16. Sue Bard-Bodek and Shirley Page were unable to retain the North Ladies Pairs championship this year as they lost by 2 shots to A. Welch and A. Weaver from Riverain Bowls Club
Not to be outdone the Baldock man played in the County North Division League Semi-Finals at Holwell on Sunday morning against St Ippolytts Bowls Club. Baldock won on both of the two rinks, 55 shots to 23 shots. They will now meet Whitethorm Bowls Club in the final on the Sunday 31st August at Baldock Town BC 10am.
The midweek team had mixed fortunes losing to Willian by 3 shots but beating Buntingford convincingly by 104 shots to 63.
In the East Beds League the A team secured their place in Division 3 on shot difference, the B team missed promotion on shot difference and the C team secured promotion for the second successive year. The B team are in the semi-final of the knockout cup while the C team have reached the same stage in the Champions Cup.
Both weekend matches were against Luton clubs. On Saturday Baldock hosted Luton West End and shared the spoils each side winning on two triples. However Baldock secured the win by 67 shots to 53, the top triple being Graham Wells, Rose Varney and Rob Dempster. On Sunday the club travelled to Co-op Luton and won on 3 of the 4 triples by 77 shots to 62, the top triple being Graham Wells (again),Val Bingley and Phil Riley.

BALDOCK WIN CAIRNS CUP
Baldock won the Letchworth & District Cairns Cup beating Whitethorn, who were last year’s finalists, on all four triples for a total score of 78 shots to 47. Baldock has also qualified for the County North Division league semi-finals where they will meet St Ippolytts.
The midweek teams fared less well losing to Howell by 62 shots to 97 and to Biggleswade by 75 shots to 78.
On Saturday the club travelled to North Mymms where, in difficult circumstances they won the match fairly comfortably.
In the ladies North Herts competitions Sue Bard-Bodek and Shirley Page reached the final of the pairs.

Devon Cooper did the club proud as she reached the last 16 of the National Under 18 singles losing narrowly to the eventual winner. Younger brother Max lost in the first round but both will have got considerable experience from playing at Leamington.
Elsewhere the club beat Howell by 23 shots to reach the final of the Letchworth & District Cairns Cup and on Saturday morning the B team beat Biggleswade A team to reach the semi-final of the East Beds League knockout cup.
The midweek team had two wins against Willian on Tuesday by 52 shots to 51 and on Thursday against Norton by 73 shots to 64
Saturday’s match against Whitethorn produced a comfortable win by 120 shots to 73, the top rink being Rose Varney, Phil Page, Graham Woods and David Davies. Sunday’s match against Great Barford was a little tighter but Baldock ran out winners by 92 shots to 65, the top triple being Graham Wells, Rose Castle and Alan Cross.

Baldock lost in the semi- final of the County Knockout cup to the eventual winners Harpenden. They won on Mike Parsons rink but lost on the other two.
The midweek team had mixed results losing against Royston by 71 shots to 56 but beating Sandy Town by 78 shots to 73.
At the weekend Baldock beat Havers Park by 89 shots to 48, the top triple being Brian Leadley, Mike Varney and Alan Cross.
With the club playing in the County Cup a weakened side visited Stotfold for the Maurice Dear trophy and lost by 53 shots to 91. The only winning triple was Jason Smith, Graham Cross and Anne Graves.
