The bowls clubs 2020 fixtures have just been added to the website for the Weekends, Weekdays plus County and North Herts events.Also clubs AGM is to be held on the evening of Friday 10th January 2020 at 7.30pm. All members have been given full details by the club secretary via email.

2019 Bowls England Junior Woman Bowler of the YearBaldock Town's Junior Devon Cooper as been nominated for the Bowls England Junior Woman Bowler of the YearDevon Cooper enjoyed a great start to the summer, winning the British Isles Women’s Bowls Council Junior Pairs Championship with Rachel Tremlett. She then went on to reach the final of the Junior Pairs and semi-final of the Junior Singles at the National Championships. Cooper’s season finished in fine style with a call-up to next year’s senior international team and winning two bronze medals at the European Championships.

Baldock Town WOMEN’S TOP CLUB Runners-up 2019
Having qualified for The National Finals in the Top Club by beating teams from Hertfordshire, Essex, and Middlesex, Baldock Ladies beat a team from Sussex in the Quarter Final.
In the semi-fianl Sunday morning they defeated three-time champions Wigton BC from Cumbria 3-1, to go through to the final.
However on Sunday afternoon they lost to Devon’s Kings BC last years winners of the title, in the final 1-3.
This is was first time since 2003 Baldock ladies completed in the Top Club finals.
In the Letchworth & District Finals on Saturday Baldock men took three titles and had two Runners-up positions for 2019.

The Baldock Ladies have reached the National Finals of the Top Club by beating teams from Hertfordshire, Essex and Middlesex.
What a month one member of that team has had. Devon Cooper, who turned 18 this week, won the British Ladies Junior Pairs in Scotland with her partner Rachael Tremlett. At the County Finals she won the Ladies Singles, Two Woods and Junior Singles. Rachael and Devon then tried to defend their National Pairs Title at Leamington but lost in the Final. They both lost in the Ladies National Junior Singles semi finals. Both represent England Ladies Juniors.

Baldock Men having won the County Team Ten Championship against Buntingford for their First Trophy of the season recently.
They have now won their Second Trophy of the season by winning the Letchworth & District Bowls Associations Triples Cains Cup on Friday evening against Datchworth BC. They won three of the four triples to take the title.

What a great week for Baldock. First the men won their County Team Championship against Royston.
Next the Ladies won their fifth match in the National Top Club against Cambridge Park from Middlesex.
On Saturday the men won the County Top Ten semi final against Garston and then won the final against Buntingford. (See Below)
To cap the week on Sunday at the County Championships Devon Cooper won the Ladies Singles. She then won the Junior Singles and the Two Wood singles the latter against her club colleague Shirley Page.
Baldock Bowls Club hosted a team from Hertford Castle Bowls Club captained by Tony Deane, father of Baldock’s Chairman Spencer Deane.On the same rink was also 8 year old Sophie Deane, Spencer’s daughter and on one rink. Baldock’s youngest member, making three generations of the same family Baldock won overall by 78 shots to 68 in a match played in great spirit.Baldock continue to encourage young bowlers like Sophie now having 16 registered junior members. Two of these have represent Hertfordshire in the Eastern Counties & Middleton Cup squads. Congratulations to Sam Andrews and Max Mackinnon, keep up the great work.

This weekend in Ayr, Scotland, Devon Cooper from Baldock and Rachael Tremlett from Royston, won the 2019 British Isles Junior Pairs Championship.
Earlier in the week Devon and Shirley Page won their Hertfordshire Two Wood Semi Finals.
In the midweek friendly we lost to Barton Le Clay 48-66.
At the weekend friendlies we lost to Henlow by 14 shots but beat Potters Bar by 6 shots.

A mixed bag of results this week. In the mid week friendlies we lost to Riverain 60-72 and beat St Ippolyts 75-43.
In the County Top Ten we played at Welwyn Garden City and won all four disciplines.
In the weekend friendlies we drew with Welwyn and District 51-51 but lost to Biggleswade 54-59.
Finally, in the National Two Fours after a successful run we lost to Harpenden on both rinks.

A very busy week for Baldock.
In the mid week friendlies we beat Steeple Morden 133-47 and Fairfield 80-57.
On Friday in the Ladies National Top Club we beat Falcon Bowls Club from Essex by 3 disciplines to 1.
The same night in the County Team Championships we played Whitethorn and won on all 3 rinks.
Finally the weekend friendlies we beat Biggleswade St Andrews by 14 shots but lost to Bishop Stortford by 21 shots.

A mostly successful week for Baldock Town.
In the National Top Club the men having beaten Datchworth 4-1 earlier in the week, we lost 3-2 to Garston.
The ladies won their Top Club 4-0 against Welwyn and District.
At the weekend we beat Sandy Town by 6 shots and our National Two Fours team beat Garston.

Devon Cooper and Shirley Page qualified for the Hertfordshire Ladies Two Wood Competition.
Baldock men beat Buntingford 3-2 in the National Top Club competition.
Elsewhere the men beat Three Horseshoes in the County league but the club lost to Whitethorn in the weekend friendly.

On Wednesday the rink skipped by Paul Andrews reached the County Semi Finals.
On Friday in the County Top Ten we hosted Cheshunt and won 3-1.
In two close friendly games at the weekend we won at Harpenden by two shots and won at Royston by one shot.

Baldock Town Bowls Clubs men advanced to the next in the Herts County Club Championship after winning on all three rinks against Letchworth Garden City BC men last Friday evening.
The weekends friendly matches brought a mixed bag of results we beat Ware BC on Saturday but unfortunately lost to loacal rivals Hitchin BC on Sunday.

Our congratulations go to five Baldock bowlers, for being selected in this years Hertfordshire County Mens Middleton Cup Squad for the first match away on Saturday 1st June against Cambridgeshire at Fordham BC.
Selected for the squad for the first time is our young junior, Sam Andrews along with Robert Dempster. Paul Andrews who played in last years team and recalled members Mike Parsons and Brian Todd.

A good week for Baldock bowls club which saw both Mens National Two Four teams win against Hertford BC and St Ippolyts BC.
On Friday evening the Top Ten team won against Potters Bar 6-2.
That the two weekend friendlies, we beat on Saturday, Sandy Conservatives BC 78-57.
However on Sunday they lost to Shefford BC 66-80.

Our Open day on 6th May was a great success with over 50 people attending to try Bowls. Of those, 13 have asked for further coaching. In two very tight matches over the weekend, one of which we narrowly lost to Rosedale on Saturday.
However we won by 7 shots overall against Beech Hill on Sunday.

Baldock only had one friendly match this weekend against Clarence Park from St.Albans. Unfortunately, with the visitors leading by ten shots, hailstones covered the green causing the match to be abandoned.

The seasons opening match was the President vs Captain on Saturday, the hottest day so far the year.
It was a win for the captains team.
On Sunday the club sent a team to play Datchworth Bowls Club.
After a lovely sunny afternoon and some very good bowls, we won the first away game of the season 79-57.
BALDOCK BOWLS FESTIVAL CLUB OPEN DAY - Bank Holiday Monday on 6th May starting 1.00pm.
All are welcome to have a go at lawn bowls. There will be equipment and assitance for eveyone wanting to give bowls a try.
