Club News - 14th November 2021
Baldock Town Bowls Club have joined the Stevenage & District Mixed Bowls League
At the Stevenage & District Mixed Bowls Association Annual General Meeting at the Holwell BC Pavilion on Friday 12th November 2021.
Baldock Town Bowls Club were welcome into the associations mixed bowls league for the 2022 summer season.
All of the fixtures required have been arranged so the AGM confirmed the club membership for the 2022 season.

Letchworth & District Bowling Association Finals
On Saturday the Letchworth and District bowls finals took place at Letchworth Garden City BC. In the Singles Final it was an all Baldock clash between Robert Dempster and Joe Morley and after a long and well contested final Robert Dempster run out the Winner. Congratulations to you both.
The L&D Champion of Champions singles was won by Mike Parsons.
In the L&D Pairs Darren Hickin & Paul Andrews were Runners-up. In the L&D Mixed Pairs Matt Hayzelden & Jan Turner were also Runners-up.

Baldock Win EBL Division One & EBL Champion of Champions
The Baldock Mens C Team Won their last league match of the season to become East Beds Division 1 Champions.
On Sunday in an all Baldock final they played in the EBL Champion of Champions Final against Baldock Mens A Team. The final was a very close over the first 12 ends but the C Team run out winners after a strong final few ends.
Congratulations C Team on your overal win and Congratulations to A Team on being Runners-up.

England National Championships
In the Bowls England National Championships held at Leamington Spa our Senior Fours rink of Ian MacInnon, Martin Roberts, Paul Haskins and Rob Dempster beat a four from Essex by 18 shots to 12.In the next round they lost to a team from Kent by 7 shots to 17. In the Junior Pairs Sam Andrews and his partner from Hemel Hempstead beat a pair from Oxford 23 shots to 11. In the next round they lost to a team from Sussex 6 shots to 24.

On Monday in the East Beds League, Baldock C Team Won their last league match of the season to become East Beds Division 1 Champions.



Club News - 21st August 2021
Baldock Wins Hertfordshire Final of the National Top Club Competition
In the National Top Club Competition Baldock won the Hertfordshire Final against Harpenden by 3 disciplines to 2.  
Aaron Heath lost the two woods on an extra end. Jamie Claydon lost the singles on the last bowl. Martin Roberts and Darren Hickin won the pairs. Brian Todd, Steve Budge and Paul Andrews won the triples. Sam Andrews, Joe Morley, Paul Haskins and Mike Parsons won the Fours.
We now play Hendon the Middlesex top club on 30th August at Gerrards Cross BC. Excellent Result! Well done the Team!

Elsewhere Jamie Claydon qualified for the National mixed fours with Devon Cooper and Matt Coppen from Royston and Joan Welch from Riverain.

In the East Beds League Champions of Champions, the Baldock C Team have won their place in the final on 5th September,
after a convincing win over Henlow BC.

Baldock Men are through to the Hertfordshire Final of the National Top 11 Competition
following a 3 to 2 discipline win against Royston BC. Well done the Team!
We now play Harpenden BC in the Hertfordshire Final and the winners will play Middlesex's Top Club.

Club News - 2nd August 2021
On County Finals Day, Sam Andrews won the Junior Pairs with his partner Toby Bunting from Hemel Hempstead, and in the County Senior fours, our rink of Martin Roberts, Ian McKinnon, Paul Haskins and Rob Dempster won the final having been 12-1 down and won 18-16. They and Sam now represent us at the National Championships at Leamington Spa. In the National Top Club we beat Buntingford by 3 disciplines to 2, however they got their revenge in the National Two Fours winning by 3 shots.                                                                                                                          Press Officer: Brian Todd

Baldock Men are through to the area finals of the  Men’s Club Championship.
They progressed with a comfortable 80-44 win  against Letchworth Garden city.

S. Andrews/M. Roberts/M.Hayzelden/D.Hickin Lost 18-23
J. Moorley/B.Todd/P.Haskings/R.Dempster Won 29-12
Baldock ‘B’ Mens Team are through to the area  semi-finals of the National Two Fours.
A comfortable 37-15 win against  Bishops Stortford.
Rink scores:
M. Hayzelden/M. Roberts/B. Todd/D. Hickin won 18-6
S. Andrews/R. Dempster/S. Budge/P. Andrews won 19-9
Hannah Liddle was part of the county Amy Rose team that has qualified for the national finals at Leamington.



Club News - 19th July 2021
In the County Competitions the senior four of Ian McKinnon, Martin Roberts Paul Haskins and Robert Dempster beat a four from Whitethorn to reach the Hertfordshire Final. In the County League we beat Aston 4 points to 2. In the County Championship we beat Letchworth by 80 shots to 44. 
Our ladies lost in The Top Club to Sawbridgeworth in all four disciplines and in the National Two Fours we beat Bishop Stortford  37-15.

County Competitions
Ian Mackinnon, Martin Roberts, Paul Haskings and  Rob Dempster have reached the county finals of the senior fours. They  defeated a team from Whitethorn In the semi-finals.
Matt Hayzelden has reached the semi-finals of the unbadged singles.
Baldock men lost in the county league match against  Royston. The rink of Sam Andrews, Ian Chambers, Matt Hayzelden and Mike  Parsons did pick up two points for winning their rink.
Baldock men are through to the third round of the  national top 11 competition following a 5-0 win against Stevenage town.  Rink scores:
Two bowl singles – J. Moorley won 16-11
Four bowl singles – S. Budge won 21-9
Pairs – M. Hayzelden/J. Claydon won 14-13
Triples – B. Todd/D. Hickin/P. Andrews won 23-8
Fours – S. Andrews/M. Roberts/P. Haskings/M. Parsons won 12-7
Jamie Claydon and partner Joan Welch are through to  the area final of the mixed pairs following a 17-9 win against Matt  Hayzelden and Jan Turner.
Sam Andrews, Rob Dempster, Steve Budge and Paul Andrews were part of the winning Middleton Cup team against Bedfordshire.
Good luck to Hannah Liddle who will represent Hertfordshire in the Amy Rose competition on Sunday 18th of July.

County Competitions
Ian Mackinnon, Martin Roberts, Paul Haskings and  Rob Dempster are through to the quarter finals of the senior fours  following a win against Welwyn Garden city.
Matt Hayzelden is through to the quarter finals of the unbadged singles.
Baldock men had a comfortable win in the second round of the County club championships against Three Horseshoes.
Rink scores:
S. Andrews/M. Roberts/M. Hayzelden/J. Claydon won 40-7
J. Moorley/B. Todd/P. Haskings/R. Dempster won 33-15
A. Heath/S. Budge/D. Hickin/P. Andrews won 31-8
Baldock men lost the county league game to  Whitethorn. Meanwhile, the ladies had a win away at Stevenage town in  the North Herts ladies league.
National Competitions
In the national two fours competition Baldock A  played Baldock B. After an even first half of the game the B team won  through 37-24. We will play Bishops Stortford B in the next round.

Club News - 29th June 2021
County League
The Baldock men played away to Letchworth Garden  city in the first county league game of the season. The rinks were  shared one each with Baldock taking an overall win of 43-37.
Rink 1: S. Deane/K. Lamacraft/M. Ingram/B. Todd beat B. Bargery 24 -11
Rink 1: D. Turner/R. Bacon/H. Chamber/J. Claydon lost to A. Hodgson 19-26
The Ladies team played at home to Letchworth Conservative Club and came away with a comfortable win.
Rink score: M.A. Haskings/W. Budge/V. Bingley/J. Turner won 24-12.
County Club Championship
The Baldock men played at home to Royston in the first round of the county club championship.
Rob Dempster’s rink was in control from the start  and ended with a comfortable victory. Jamie Claydon’s rink were six  shots behind at halfway but made a strong comeback to win by three  shots. After a slow start Paul Andrews rink did well  to close the gap and only lose by 4 shots.

S. Andrews/H. Chambers/M. Hayzelden/J. Claydon beat R. Knight 18-15
S. Deane/k. Lamacraft/A. Heath/P. Andrews lost to S. Brown 17-21.
Overall : 61-46
Cairns Cup
Unfortunately Baldock men lost to Datchworth by four shots.

Club News - 17th June 2021
A mixed bag of results this week. In the County Competitions the rink of Spencer Dean, Joe Morley, Paul Haskins and Jamie Claydon have now reached the last 16 as have the triple of Matt Hayzeldene, Martin Roberts and Jamie Claydon. In a disappointing weekend we lost to Luton Coop 39-80, to Potten 54-66 and in the National Tony Alcock competition we lost to Buntingford by 6 shots.

Men’s National Two Fours
Baldock Bowls club ‘A’ team won through on a tricky  green away to Whitethorn B.C 32-21. They join ‘B’ team in the second round of the competition.
The two teams will now have to play each other for a place in the third round.

Men’s Triples 1st Round

D. Davies & Co given walkover into next round.
Unfortunately both our Pairs Teams of Joe  Moorley/Jamie Claydon and Darren Hickin/Paul Andrews lost at the county quarter final stage.

Having had Saturdays game rained off, on Sunday Baldock hosted Beech Hill Bowls Club from Luton.  Baldock won on 3 of the 4 rinks with a total score of 82-59.

A tough start to the county top ten saw Baldock  host Garston BC. The match went down to the very last bowl, but Garston  just ran out winners this time by one shot. 70-71

The clubs game on Saturday was rained off. However better new on Sunday as Baldock hosted the Beech Hill Bowls Club from Luton. 
We had much better weather than Saturday and the Baldock team had a good win. They won on 3 of the 4 rinks with a total score of 82-59.

It is with great sadness that Dave Hoare sadly passed away on Monday 10th May.
He was a loyal and dedicated club member during his time at Harperbury, Roebuck and recently at Baldock Town.
A True character on and off the green. Who made a lot of friends during his playing career across Hertfordshire.
Our thoughts are with his Wife and family at this sad time. RIP Dave.

Just added all of the 2021 friendly weekend and mid week fixtures to the website plus the North Herts, County League and L&D matches. We are still awaiting Bowls England's guidance on the playing rules for coming summer bowls season. However we are very hopeful of playing a full competitive bowls season.

Club News - 1st February 2021
The Clubs January Annual General Meeting has been postponed due to the current Government regulations, the AGM will be held at the earliest possible opportunity. All members will be given 21 days written notice at home or by e-mail. Members must advise the Secretary in writing of any business to be moved at the AGM at least 14 days before the Meeting.
