Having just entered December, with only a few days away from the 2022 festive season! We are wishing all our friends and our members and their families a Very Merry Christmas!

Club News - 29th October 2022
We are delighted to confirm the arrangements for our 2022 Presentation Night. It is now to be held on Friday18th November at the Bowls Club 6.30pm for 7pm start. Open to all Family & Friends etc. the more the Merrier!
To enable us to confirm numbers please can you reply with how many attendees you intend to bring along and what food  you would like to  order from the options below:  
Jamie and Matt will be hosting the evening and we will endeavour to make it as enjoyable as possible. The evening will include a fish and chips, sausage and chips or vegetarian supper and dessert.

Club News - Monday 19th September 2022
Saturday saw the Letchworth & District Bowls Finals Day hosted by Stevenage Bowls Club. Many of the finals featured Royston and Baldock. Sam Andrews lost in the singles to Royston, Sam and Hayden Chambers lost to Royston in the pairs, Hannah Liddell and Jamie Claydon beat Rose Castle and Paul Andrews in an all Baldock Mixed Pairs Final. Dave Davies, Brian Todd and Mike Parsons beat Royston in the Triples Final whilst Joe Moorley, Aaron Heath, Steve Budge and Rob Dempster beat Stevenage in the Rinks Final. Brian Todd had earlier won the Champion of Champions. This brings the outdoor season to an end.

Great results for Baldock Town in the Letchworth & District Finals at Stevenage Town BC.
Jamie Claydon & Hannah Liddle were the Winners of the Mixed Pairs versus Baldock's Paul Andrews & Rose Castle. Sam Andrews & Hayden Chambers were Runners-up in the Pairs. Robert Dempster, Steve Budge, Aaron Heath & Joe Moorley were the Winners of the Fours. Mike Parsons, Brian Todd & Dave Davies were the Winners in the Triples. Sam Andrews was Runner-up in the Singles & Brian Todd Won the Champion of Champions singles.
Congratulations and very well done to all.

Club News - Monday 12th September 2022
Two of our younger members-Sam Andrews and Hayden Chambers-were in the Hertfordshire Squad playing in the Middleton Cup at the National Finals at Leamington Spa. This is an Inter County Event played over six rinks. Having already qualified for the semi final they beat Gloucester. In the final they lost to a very strong Berkshire side. This is the furthest Hertfordshire has progressed in this competition. In our final SDML game we beat Howard Garden 59-57 gaining 5 points to 1.

East Beds Champions of Champions Knockout Cup Final 2022
It was a clash between two of the clubs East Beds teams at Potton Bowls Club!  After a very close and competitive game over two triples rinks and 18 ends, the Baldock B Team run out winners by just 5 shots. Congratulations Baldock B Team for retaining the CofC Knockout Cup they won last year.

Club News - Monday 29th August 2022
In the Bowls England National Championships at Leamington Spa, our trio of Sam Andrews, Darren Hickin and Paul Andrews represented Hertfordshire.  They won their first three exciting games to reach the National Quarter Final. In another close game they were level with two ends left. Unfortunately they dropped two single shots. A fantastic effort to reach the last eight in the country.

In Division 1 of the EAST Beds League on Wednesday evening our Mens B Team beat Ampthill 'A' Team to confirm they are 2022 Division 1 champions retaining the title they won last year. Congratulations to all the team for this excellent result.

On Saturday 20th August in the North Herts Ladies Finals!
Janet Turner & Wendy Budge Won the Pairs, Hannah Liddell was Runner up in the Singles and Debby Claydon, Shirley Page & Rose Castle were Runners up in the Triples. On Sunday in the Stevenage & District Mixed League League match we won on one rink but lost on two for an overall loss 44 shots to 48.

In the Stevenage & District Mixed Bowls Association - Knockout Competition Final on the evening of Thursday 18th August, Baldock Town played two triples home & away, against last years Champions St.Ippollitts BC.  
On the night at Baldock the St.Ippollitts triples won on both rinks 18-17 & 15-11. However at St.Ippollitts it is was the Baldock Town triples, that won the day by winning on both rinks 15-12 & 30-11, that gave Baldock Town BC a 73-56 overall win by 17 shots.
Congratulations to both teams for the execellent bowls and the sprit in which the final was played on the night!

In the Lethworth & District Cairns Cup Final on Friday, Whitethorn beat Baldock in a very close game overall by four shots. 
At the weekend In the Stevenage & District Mixed League we played Three Horseshoes and won on all three rinks totalling 44 shots to 32.

Club News - 1st August 2022
In the Hertfordshire Team Championship Quarter Final we beat Stevenage by 47 shots. In the Stevenage & Distict Mixed League Knockout, we beat Letchworth by 89 shots to 47. We beat Howard Garden in the County League and in the Stevenage Mixed League we beat Datchworth by 67-26 winning on all three rinks. In the County Top Ten we beat Mill End in the semi final only to lose to Royston by the same score in the final. Finally, at County Finals Day it didn’t go our way. Our triple of Sam Andrews, Darren Hickin and Paul Andrews lost to a team from Garson whilst Sam lost the Junior Singles Final. He also lost in the Junior Pairs Final by one shot. Still a great effort by all of them to get there.

Sam Andrews,Darren Hickin and Paul Andrews beat a team from Buntingford to reach the County Triples Final. In the Regional Final of the National Two Fours we were beaten by Garson by the narrowest of margins 27-29. In the County League we beat Hitchin 55-23. In the Stevenage Mixed League we beat St Ippolyts 67-35. Finally to celebrate our 70th Anniversary we played a Hertfordshire County Team and won by 7 shots.

In the Men's County Championship we beat Royston by 57 shots to 44. In the Men's County League we beat Riverain 43-34. Debbie Claydon and Rose Castle have won the Regional Final of The National Senior Ladie’s pairs beating a pair from Hertford 21-20. The triple of Sam Andrews, Darren Hickin and Paul Andrews have reached the County Semi Final beating a team from Garson 23-13.

In the County Top Ten we played at Hoddesdon & Rye Park. Although we won two disciplines each we won on shots 84-61. In the National Top Club we lost to Royston by three disciplines to two.  In the Regional Semi-final of the National Two Fours our B team beat our A team by 48 shots to 12. In the Stevenage & District Mixed League we lost both our matches-to Letchworth Garden City 46-62 no points scored and to Howard Garden 41-66 one point scored.

In the County Top Ten we hosted Bushey and won all four disciplines and In the County League the ladies won at Riverain 23-14 whilst the men beat St Ippolyts 51-21. In the Stevenage & District Mixed League our winning run came to an end losing to Stevenage 40-55. Finally, in a friendly match against Sandy Town we won a very close game by 4 shots.

In a busy week for Baldock we beat Letchworth Conservative Club in the County League, our B team had an impressive win on both rinks at Royston in the National Two Fours, in the Cairns Cup we beat Riverain 120 shots to 60, in the National Top Club we beat Stevenage four disciplines to one. Finally in the Tony Alcock Competition we lost at Hertford Bowls Club 32-44.

Unfortunately both Paul Andrews and Darren Hickin lost their Hertfordshire County Singles Semi Finals-a great effort. In the Stevenage & District Mixed League Baldock continued their unbeaten run with a 65-37 win over Aston taking all 6 points. In the National Two Fours Baldock B Team played at Datchworth and won by 8 shots.

In the Stevenage & District Mixed League, Baldock Town have maintained their unbeaten run by beating Letchworth Garden City by 50 shots to 46 scoring five points to one. This week two Baldock players, Paul Andrews and Darren Hickin, have reached the semi-final of the Hertfordshire County Singles.

Thank you  to all members, family and friends that made the Platinum Jubilee Two  Bowl tournament such a success. Congratulations to our Qualifiers for  Finals Day in September; Rose Wendy Brian and Robert. A special mention for Team Hickin (Lizzie, Joshua, Jessica, Konnor and Louis)  for the help and support that enabled the day to go so well. A  wonderful raffle raising £160 for The MS Therapy Centre. In the National Top Club we hosted Bovingdon Bowls Club and won all four disciplines. In the Stevenage and District Mixed League we played St. Ippolyts and won 59-41 taking 5 points to 1. In the Hertfordshire Singles three of our players have reached the last eight- Paul Andrews, Darren Hickin and Steve Budge.

It’s been a busy week at Baldock Town Bowls Club. In the National Mens Two Fours our A squad beat Royston 38-29 and our B squad beat Stevenage Town 40-23. In the National Mens Top Club we beat Buntingford three disciplines to two. In the Stevenage & District Mixed League we beat Stevenage Town 62 shots to 37 to retain our position at the top of the league. In the Herts County Singles three of our players - Paul Andrews, Darren Hickin and Steve Budge have reached the last sixteen. Finally in a friendly game we beat Sandy Conservative Club by 66 shots to 34.

Baldock Town Bowls Club played two more games in the Stevenage & District Mixed Bowls League.
Saturday's match was at Aston BC. In a very close match Aston won on two of the three rinks play, but our only winning rink we managed to give us an overall win 48 shots to 44 shots giving us 4 points to 2 points.
On Sunday we were at Datchworth BC where we managed to win on all three rinks giving us an overall 63 shots to 30 shots win, scoring a full 6 points.

Club News - 2nd May 2022
We played our very first match in the Stevenage & District Mixed Bowls League on Saturday 30th April. Our first match was against Knebworth Bowls Club. The game took place on a beautiful sunny summer afternoon at Knebworth. After a very competitive match, Baldock managed to win on all three rinks with an overall score of 71-42 scoring 6 points.

Bank Holiday Monday on 2nd May starting 1.00pm until 5pm. All are welcome to have a go at lawn bowls. There will be equipment and assistance for everyone wanting to give bowls a try.

Our Congratulations goes to long standing member Shirley Page who has been awarded life membership to Hertfordshire Bowls Association for exceptional special services rendered to the County and in recognition of an impressive International career over several decades.
Hertfordshire County President: Rose Varney presented to Shirley Page a Certificate of Honorary Life Membership.

Club News - 31st January 2022

The funeral service for Colin Smith will be at the Letchworth Cemetery, on the cross roads of Arlesey New Road and Wilbury Road entrance just down towards Stotfold, at 11am on Thursday February 3rd. It will be a humanist service followed by a private burial. No formal dress code required.

The wake as been confirmed and will take place at Baldock Town Bowls Club.
The 2022 fixtures have been updated on the website.

Baldock Town Bowls Club have joined the Stevenage & District Mixed Bowls League
At the Stevenage & District Mixed Bowls Association Annual General Meeting at the Holwell BC Pavilion on Friday 12th November 2021.
Baldock Town Bowls Club were welcome into the associations mixed bowls league for the 2022 summer season.
All of the fixtures required have been arranged so the AGM confirmed the club membership for the 2022 season.
