We are wishing all our club members & friends and their families a Very Merry Christmas! & Happy New Year 2025Club News - 1st November 2024It is with great sadness that I report the passing away of Val Bingley. Val was a much-loved member of both Baldock Town Bowls Club & Riverain Indoor bowls club. Val had a distinguished bowling career both indoors and out. She has represented both Essex and Hertfordshire at Leamington. Her greatest personal accomplishment coming in 2006 where she was national runner up in the senior singles. At Baldock Town Bowls Club, Val has had held a variety of committee positions, the most recent as treasurer of the sports club. Val will be missed greatly by her family, friends, and teammates. Sincere condolences to Colin, Nikki, Mike and family at this sad time.

Club News - 16th September 2024The Letchworth and District Finals were held this Saturday at Whitethorn Bowls Club. For the second year in a row Baldock won a clean sweep. In our last SML game we played at Letchworth Garden City and won 69-35 gaining 5 points to 1.

Triples - Megan Mackinnon, Rose Castle and Matt HayzeldenClub News - 2nd September 2024It was a great weekend for our club. On Saturday we secured winning the SDML by beating Howard Garden 65-36 gaining all 6 points. On Sunday we hosted the County North Area semi final and final. After comfortable wins against Riverain in the semi and Three Horseshoes in the Final we now qualify for the County Finals. In a friendly we won at Great Barford 47-41. In the North Herts Ladies League we played Stevenage and lost 25-26. BTClub News - 26th August 2024At the National Championships at Leamington Spa, Sam Andrews represented Hertfordshire in the Junior Singles. He beat the Hampshire Champion 21-8, the Sussex Champion 21-15, the Surrey Champion 21-20 but lost to the Essex Champion 16-21. He then joined Steve Budge and his father Paul Andrews representing Hertfordshire in the Triples. Unfortunately they lost to Northampton 15-16. Baldock played Whitethorn in the SML knockout cup where we won 102-38. This is the third year in a row we have won it. Finally in the SML we beat Holwell 57-38, winning on all three rinks and retaining our position at the top of the league. BT
Club News - 19th August 2024This week we played Royston in the Cairns Cup Final. We won by 70 shots to 65. The same evening we played Stevenage in the County League and won by one shot 35-34. Our Ladies played Stevenage in their County League but lost by 2 shots, however they had a very successful weekend. In the North Herts Championships Julie Mutter won the Singles, Julie Undrell won the Unbadged Singles, Wendy Budge and Mary Ann Haskings won the Pairs, but we lost the Triples. The following day in the Challenge Shield (a competition for bowlers who haven’t played for the County) we lost the Singles, won the pairs and drew the Triples. In a one end shootout in the pairs we won the whole competition with the last wood of the match. BTJulie Undrell, Wendy Budge, Mary Ann Haskings, Julie Mutter, Sarah Berry.

In the L&D Cairns Cup Semi Final we played home and away against Howard Garden and won 88-47. In the County Top Ten we lost in the Semi Final to Welwyn Garden City by 3 disciplines to 1. Finally in the Stevenage Mixed League we played Three Horseshoes and won 69-40 to take all 6 points and retain our position at the top of the league. BTClub News - 8th August 2024In the North Herts Ladies League we played at Riverain and won 37-26. In the SML knockout cup we played home and away against Howard Garden. The overall score was a win for us 95-47. The same evening we played Whitethorn in the County League and won 55-23. In the County Team Championship we played Buntingford over three rinks in the Semi Final. In a dramatic game we lost by one shot. Sam Andrews lost in the County Under 25 Final but will represent Hertfordshire in the National Finals at Leamington Spa later this month. BT

Club News - 29th July 2024Last weekend was County Finals day. Our triple of Sam Andrews, Steve Budge and Paul Andrews won the Triples Final against a team from Garston. Julie Undrell was runner up in the Unbadged Singles having only taken up bowls last season. Sam Andrews has also reached the final of the Under 25 Singles which has been delayed until next weekend.
In the County Team Championship we played Royston and won 58-39. In the County League we played at Hitchin and won 56-10. In two friendlies we beat Harpenden 54-43 and Shephalbury 60-51. In the Mixed League we played Datchworth and won 62-33 gaining all 6 points. BT
Club News - 22nd July 2024Our Congratulations go to all of our clubs members, who have reached the Hertfordshire County Finals at Bishops Stortford on Sunday 28th July. Julie Undrell is in the Ladies Unbadged Singles. Sam Andrews is in the Men's Junior Singles and Paul Andrews with Sam Andrews and Steve Budge are in the County Triples. Good Luck to you all.In a friendly match we played Stotfold and won 80-39. In a ladies County League game we visited Royston where we lost 21-11. In another friendly we visited Barton ale Clay and won 57-32. It was a very successful weekend in the Mixed League. We beat St Ippolyts 52-28 to gain all 6 points, and we beat Royston 55-43 to gain 5 points. This leaves us clear at the top of the table. BTClub News - 15th July 2024This week in the Men and Ladies County League we played against Three Horseshoes.
The men won 38-29 whilst the Ladies lost 15-21. In the County Championship we played Letchworth Garden City.We won on all three rinks for a total of 88-15. In a friendly match we hosted Welwyn Garden City and won 89-47. BTComet Bowls News - 11th July 2024
Club News - 8th July 2024This week in our friendly match, we hosted Steeple Morden and won 62-48. In the North Herts League our ladies played at Three Horseshoes and won 41-26. In the Stevenage Mixed League we played at Howard Garden and won on all three rinks 57-44. The six points retains our position at the top of the league. BT
Club News - 1st July 2024In the Stevenage & District Mixed knock out cup we beat St Ippolyts 79-69 and in the League we beat Stevenage 71-25 to gain all 6 points. In a friendly game we beat Langford 67-51. We had mixed fortunes in the Cairns Cup. Our A team lost to Hitchin by 5 shots whilst our B Team won on in all four pairs matches. BTClub News - 24th June 2024In the County Top Ten we played Herts Watford and won by three disciplines to one.
The ladies played against Riverain in The North League and won 31 -5.
In a friendly at Sandy Town we won 59-56. In the National Top Club we played at Buntingford but lost by 3 1/2 disciplines to 1 1/2.
At the weekend in the Mixed League we played Knebworth and won all 6 points 93 shots to 15. We then played at Three Horseshoes and only gained 1 point 49 shots to 54. We did however retain our first place. BT
Club News - June 2024In the North Herts League our ladies played St Ippolyts and won by 55 shots to 29. In a friendly match we visited Buntingford and come away with a 72-56 victory. In the National Tony Alcock competition we played Stevenage Town and lost by 27 shots to 33. In the County Top Ten we again played Stevenage and won by three disciplines to one. It is with great sadness that I have to announce, Annie Haywood passed away on the 16th May 2024.
Annie has achieved so much in her bowling career. She won multiple county, national and British Isles titles and represented England on the international stage. Annie was regarded as one of the best lead bowlers of her generation. More recently Annie was made a life member of Baldock Town Bowls Club and would cheer on our men’s and ladies’ teams. Known for her cheeky smile and contagious laugh, Annie was a much loved member of the club and she will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with Annie's family and close friends. ❤️Club News - 20th May 2024This week we lost a friendly game against Co-op Luton by 36 shots to 62. We hosted a touring team from West Sussex and lost 79-120. In the County Team 10 we beat Batchwood by 3 disciplines to 1 and 82 shots to 54. In the National Tony Alcock event we played Buntingford and won 46-21. In the National Two Fours our A team played our B team with the B team winning by 37-23. Finally in the SML we played Stevenage and won on all three rinks for a total of 67-46 and all 6 points to remain top of the league. BTClub News - 13th May 2024In a busy week our ladies lost a North Division league game at St Ippolyts by 12 shots to 18. In the Ladies National Top Club we played Northaw and Cuffley. Having won two disciplines each we won through on shot difference 70-54. In the men's Top Club we played Hertford and won all five disciplines.
We played two Mixed League games. We beat Aston 5 points to 1 with a shot difference of 50-45 and beat Datchworth 5 points to 1 with a score of 60-52. Finally in two friendlies we lost to Stevenage 52-77 but beat Welwyn Garden City by 48-44. BTClub News - 6th May 2024We had two teams in the National Two Fours. Our A team beat Stevenage in a thrilling game decided on the last end winning 36-33. The B team beat a team from Buntingford 39-27. In the Stevenage & District Mixed League we beat Holwell by 58-36 gaining all 6 points. In a midweek friendly we lost at Stotfold by 60 shots to 65. BTClub News - 30th April 2024The 2024 summer bowls season has finally started and the first Two Mixed League Results have been posted. First honours go tBTo Howard Garden who won their first match against Stevenage Town and then Baldock Town BC won their first match against Knebworth.Club News - 6th April 2024There is a final preparation day organised for Sunday 14th April, where everything will be tidied and prepared for the green opening the next day 15th April. The reception will follow at Baldock Bowls club.What a wonderful guy! A true gentleman & loyal friend! He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him! When I first met him many years ago we had a nickname for him! Jason ! as he very much look like the TV character, Jason King from the 70s. We will miss him so much! RIP Graham.
